Get away from the city and cool down at the beach! There are so many great cities along the coastal bend that offer unique entertainment for the entire family.
Texas State Aquarium
A perfect place to learn and have fun. The Texas State Aquarium goes beyond just displaying several species of fish, they have 18 specialty exhibits featuring sharks, otters, eagles, turtles, and so much more. The Texas State Aquarium is a place of exploring, conservation, and education. Have fun with the family at the official aquarium of Texas.
Lighthouse Beach
A place perfect for the kids. There are playgrounds and a picnic area. Thereโs also a covered pavilion if you need some shade. The boardwalk is 2,200 feet long from the beach to the bird tower and is made from recycled materials.
UT Marine Science Institute
Enjoy a hands-on learning experience at their education centers around the campus. They offer several different talks and lecture series ranging from sea turtles to seagrass throughout the year. The Science Institute has the Wetlands Education Center, Estuary Explorium, and the Bay Education Center open to the public and give both children and adults a glimpse of their conservation, education, and preservation efforts.
Moody Gardens
Moody Gardens is a hotel that goes above and beyond. Itโs a hotel that has a convention center, spa, golf course, and so many attractions. The property is expansive and has an aquarium, a rainforest pyramid, an interactive museum, a 3D and 4D theater, a water park, a ropes course, and a zip line. This is a one-stop place for everyone. A great place for the family to cool down this summer.
Aransas Pass Aquatic Center
If you want a sand-free day, take the family to this kid-friendly waterpark. They have a cool water slide, a diving board, and a specific area for younger kids to safely have fun. A fun place to cool down.
Fulton Mansion State Historic Site
This Victorian Villa was built in 1877 and is now a Texas Historic Landmark. Itโs been restored to its former glory and open to the public for enjoyment. The house itself is outstanding with its unique architecture for this region of Texas.
Fishing in Port Aransas
Port Aransas is known as the fishing capital of Texas. There are a range of ways to enjoy fishing in Port A. You can go deep sea fishing, bay fishing, or pier fishing. There are over 20 fishing tournaments held here. Some local eateries allow you to bring in your fresh catches and theyโll cook them for you!
Mustang Island State Park
Mustand Island stretches over five miles of the Texas Coastal Bend. You can spend a lively day at the beach and then go camping. Thereโs also over 20 miles of trails for paddling. A great sun-day fun day!
USS Lexington
The USS Lexington was decommissioned in 1991 and was the oldest working carrier in the US Navy. Its permanent home is now in Corpus Christi and open to the public for exploring.ย
You can learn the history of the ship in an interactive manner. On the ship, thereโs a flight simulator, overnight camping, an escape room, a theater, and several exhibits.
